Our Climate

North-central Florida has a humid subtropical climate — basically long, hot summers and short, mild winters, with plenty of moisture in the air year-round.

Here’s the vibe by season:

🌞 Summer (May–September)

• Hot and very humid. Daytime highs usually sit in the upper 80s to low 90s°F (31–34°C).
• Daily afternoon thunderstorms are common, especially June–August. They’re fast, loud, and can dump a lot of rain in a short time. Nights stay warm and sticky, often in the 70s°F (low 20s°C). Thunderstorms can often rise to severe levels. North Central Florida is the lightning capital of the United States. This particular stretch, in which this Chamber of Commerce serves, has the most lightning strikes each year of anywhere else in the US.

🍂 Fall (October–November)

• Humidity drops, temps ease up.
• Highs are typically 70s–80s°F (20s°C).
• Rainfall decreases, and it’s one of the nicest times of year.

❄️ Winter (December–February)

• Mild overall. Daytime highs usually range from the 60s to low 70s°F (15–22°C).
• Nights can dip into the 40s°F (single digits °C), with occasional light frosts, especially inland.
• Snow is extremely rare.

🌸 Spring (March–April)

• Warm, comfortable, and increasingly humid.
• Highs climb from the 70s into the 80s°F.
• Pollen levels can be intense thanks to all the trees.

Rain & Weather Quirks

• Rainfall is highest in summer.
• Hurricanes can affect the region, but being inland means impacts are usually weakened storms or heavy rain, not direct hits.
